Mindful Mission
Mentoring & Support for Friends, Family and Caregivers
Providing guidance, support, and practical strategies for those supporting someone through challenging times or mental health journeys.
Supporting someone through tough times and mental health issues can be overwhelming. It's common to feel uncertain about how to communicate effectively and worry about saying or doing the wrong thing, especially if the person is hesitant to accept help.
But you don't have to face this alone. Our mentoring sessions offer a safe space to openly discuss mental health, providing insights on supporting others while also caring for yourself.
Here are some of the topics we often discuss:
-
Navigating the Stages of Change and motivation. Where in the journey is your person and how to help in each stage
-
Understanding what is happening for your loved one and how to best support.
-
Strategies to improve communication. Do's and don'ts.
-
Navigating the line between being supportive and enabling harmful behaviour.
-
How to improve motivation and what to do when they refuse help or to make positive changes.
-
Managing intense emotions. Dealing with mood swings, meltdowns and unpredictable behaviour.
-
Taking care of yourself. Dealing with isolation, lack of support, criticism, and social pressures.
-
Managing your own feelings of guilt, shame, frustration, worry.
-
Balancing life and responsibilities. Because life goes on when they are unwell.
-
Maintaining boundaries and self-care when supporting.
